Set by Gabriel Mascaro and Paula Cosenza, director and producer with over two decades of experience, TREMA is a Brazilian independent company that develops, finances and produces films and series with a voice of their own. With a focus on international coproductions and very original storytelling, our work has been released and awarded in some of the most prestigious festivals around the world and reached global audiences.

PAULA COSENZA

Paula Cosenza is an independent producer with extensive national and international experience. She has produced series, feature films, and documentaries in partnership with Netflix, Disney, HBO, FOX, Warner Bros, and Sony Pictures, among others. Her films have been screened and awarded at festivals such as Cannes, Berlinale, Venice, San Sebastian, Sundance, Toronto and Telluride. As a distributor, she has acquired and released in Brazil titles such as Bong Joon-ho’s “Parasite” and Ruben Ostlund’s “The Square.” She is a member of EAVE (European Audiovisual Entrepreneurs) and a Variety’s “Latin American Producer to Watch.”

Gabriel Mascaro

Gabriel Mascaro (1983) is a Brazilian director and screenwriter based in Recife, Brazil, best known for his films Neon Bull (Venice, 2015), Divine Love (Sundance, 2019) and August Winds (Locarno, 2014). His films have garnered over 50 international awards and Neon Bull was highlighted in the New York Times Top 10 Best Films of 2016. In the same year, Mascaro had a retrospective at the Lincoln Center in New York. His latest movie is The Blue Trail, silver bear (grand jury award) at Berlinale 2025.
